About

There is no narrative behind my pieces. Form is the only argument.

My practice begins from an organic brutalism: honesty of material and the presence of mass. Nothing is concealed, and nothing is added for decoration. I explore the coexistence of the austere and the excessive.

I work in metal through lost-wax casting, modelling each piece by hand. I am not looking to repeat a design. I am looking for the material to transform.

Once cast, the surface forgets its origin and takes on qualities that are not its own: a rigidity that seems flexible, something that looks light but feels heavy, textures that deceive. I am interested in contrasts and how they behave against one another: smooth and rough, light and dark, mass and void.

I maintain that art jewellery should not be at odds with wearability. My jewellery has volume and sculptural presence and is nevertheless designed to be ergonomic and comfortable on the body. Scale and comfort are not opposed: they are one and the same design problem, and it has to be solved.

A piece of jewellery that cannot be worn loses what defines it.
